MHI Homeowner Handbook
MHI Homeowner Handbook
Navigate the construction and maintenance of a new home with confidence
One of the main purposes of this book is to describe the building performance standards that are common in our area. These standards are based on Residential Construction Performance Guidelines from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) as well as other warranty resources; and have been developed and approved by the membership of the Mississippi Housing Institute after careful analysis of industry standards and accepted building practices in Mississippi.
When you have a question or issue with an item in your new home, start by reviewing the relevant section of this handbook to determine how to proceed. In some instances, an issue can be addressed without builder involvement or breach of warranty on the particular system or component.
Informative home building categories documented in our handbook include:
- Construction of your new home
- Maintenance of your new home
